Welcome to Danchis Chihuahuas (Perm. Reg.). My name is Danette Andersen and Danchis chihuahuas consists of family members who all work together to try to produce the very best chihuahuas. When I first started in chihuahuas I started along with my mother. For the past 30 years, my mother, Emma Bahr, and I have worked together in breeding chihuahuas. My mother whelps the puppies and I raise, train and show them. Over the years, I married and had 3 children. My oldest daughter, Jenise, now 21 years old, also trains and shows our chihuahuas. She owned the #1 short coat chihuahua in Canada for 2005. She has finished many of my dogs and has some amazing wins and placements. My 14 year old daughter, Roberta, won Best Puppy in Show with one of my long coat puppies at the tender age of 11 years. My youngest, Colton, at age 10 won the Jr. Novice class in 2005 showing Am/Can Ch. Danchis Itty Bitty Flash. All three of my children have inherited my love for the chihuahua.
I started in chihuahuas in 1976 and bought my first “show” dog from Tiny Mites Kennels in Michigan. One of the most important lessons I learned was that much had to be put into making a champion. Not only are looks and structure important, but training, socialization and finding the right dogs with the right temperament are also imperative in showing dogs.
For over 30 years now I have accomplished many milestones that I am proud of as a chihuahua lover and breeder. I have won Pedigree Breeder of the Year award 5 years in a row (from 1995 to 2000, when the program was disbanded in Canada). I have had many (over 15) top ranking dogs (Top 5). I have produced over 100 champions in not only Canada and the US, but also Japan, Germany and Europe. For the past 4 years I have taken 3 different short coat chihuahuas to the number one position in Canada. The next two pages are samples of some of the wins my dogs have achieved.
